Calypso® Clinical Benefits

  • Calypso is capable of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) also known as stereotactic ablative radiotherapy in which high doses of radiation is accurately administered at various angles to the cancer cell using different beams of various intensity. This type of radiotherapy is suited for early stage small visible tumors in the lungs that could prove difficult with surgery due to several precipitating factors.

  • The Calypso comprises of Beacon transponders for lung, surface and soft tissue that tracks the tumors exact location in real time to deliver the correct & accurate radiation dose to irradiate the cancer cell.

  • Calypso provides radiologists with the necessary real time data needed to make critical decisions that could foster faster results and reduce side effects from the procedure even when the radiation is increased. Using this data the system operators can reduce the margin between the Clinical Target Volume (CTV) and the Planning Target Volume (PTV).

  • Calypso innovative features allows the localization of tumors deep within soft tissues, a feat that has made it a primary alternative to surgery for lesser cases.

Installation & Deinstallation Service

TGOHN Largo, FL, is well grounded in the operations surrounding the proper installation & precise deinstallation of the calypso system also known as the 'GPS for the body' which continuously tracks a tumors position during radiation treatment allowing physicians to keep the beam focused on the tumor thus, minimizing the dose to surrounding healthy tissue.
